Mel is the Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Real Estate at Washington Capital, where he leads all aspects of the real estate investment process, including both equity and debt strategies. Mel is also the chair of the Investment Committee and has expertise in investment management, strategic decision-making, and risk assessment.
With over four decades of experience in real estate and finance, Mel brings a deep understanding of market dynamics, asset valuation, and investment strategy. He holds an MBA in Finance and a BA in Business from the University of Washington. Mel also earned the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 1987, underscoring his advanced expertise in real estate valuation and investment analysis.
He has served in various executive capacities, including President of the Seattle Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, where he was recognized as Appraiser of the Year in 2011. His long-standing commitment to community development is reflected in his three decades of service on the City of Issaquah Development Commission and his active participation in the city’s Community Emergency Response Team.
